Examples of just a few of the misleading or false teachings

F = Misleading or False Teachings
T = Scriptural Lesson or Truth

  • F = Modern day baptism in water fills you with The Holy Spirit.

  • T = It's a ritual that publicly demonstrates your commitment to God. While water baptism is common, it's even better to believe and receive God as your Savior AND leader (Lord) in your heart, mind, and soul to become baptized in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit (Acts 19:1-7; Matthew 28:16-20; Matthew 22:37). The Holy Spirit is a deposit of Salvation and makes your body a temple. (Ephesians 1:14 (NIV)); 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

  • F = Modern day baptism in water washes away sins (First Baptist church).

  • T = The Son of God sacrificed Himself on the cross to forgive our sins (Sacrificial Lamb), so just pray to The Messiah with repentance and ask Him to forgive your sins and guilt. The Lord's Prayer includes forgiveness of sins (Matthew 6:9-13).

  • F = Everyone who 'believes' in God will receive The Holy Spirit and Salvation.

  • T = Even devil worshipers 'believe' in God but don't receive Salvation. It's necessary to receive God as your Savior AND leader (Lord) of your heart, mind, and soul to become baptized in The Holy Spirit, who is a deposit of Salvation (Ephesians 1:14 (NIV); Romans 8:9). You don't want to hear The Messiah say He doesn't "know you" (Matthew 7:23). Your name will not be recorded in The Book of Life (Revelation 21:27) if you are an apostate (Luke 9:62), fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, effeminate, homosexuals, thieves, the covetous, drunkards, revilers, and swindlers (1 Corinthians 6:9,10); those who love and practice lying, sorcerers, immoral persons, and murderers (Revelation 22:15); those who practice impurity, sensuality, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, carousing, and things like these (Galatians 5:19-21); whoever annuls one of the least of the commandments, and teaches others to do the same (Matthew 5:19,20); the haters (1 John 3:15); the unsaved (John 3:3; John 3:18-21); and those who judge or condemn instead of forgiving (Luke 6:37). Repent before it's too late.

  • F = Your family is to be given priority before God.

  • T = God has priority before your family (Matthew 10:37-38). God created your family, but your family didn't create God. Remember, God sacrificed His Son on the cross for you (John 3:16).

  • F = You are destined to have life long financial prosperity.

  • T = You can't serve two masters (Matthew 6:24; 1 Timothy 6:10). You might experience financial hardships because God might need to teach you some difficult lessens by using the devil as a tool (1 Timothy 1:20; 1 Peter 1:6-7; James 1:2-4).

  • F = You reap what you sow, so you don't need charity.

  • T = God gave you His son's life for free. God gives salvation by His grace, but not by your works (Romans 3:20; Galatians 6:8). God wants you to give help to the poor on earth, so He can reward you in Heaven (Luke 12:33-34; Luke 14:12-14).

  • F = The poor are lazy and don't deserve help.

  • T = Although we have equal rights, everyone has unique physical and mental aptitudes, plus diverse social and environmental conditions. God wants you to give help to the poor on earth, so He can reward you in Heaven (Luke 12:33-34; Luke 14:12-14). A wicked man doesn't understand the poor (Proverbs 29:7; 1 John 3:17). Instead of inviting wealthy people to dine with you, invite poor people to a banquet (Luke 14:12-14). Give to people who beg for help (Matthew 5:42).

  • F = Distributing wealth to the poor destroys civilizations.

  • T = The Christian practice of distributing wealth to the poor is the foundation upon which our civilization has been built (Acts 4:32-35; Acts 2:43-47).

  • F = Additional scriptures from God can be found in the Book of Mormon (Later Day Saints), Watch Tower (Jehovah Witnesses), Koran/Quran (Islam), and other deviant books.

  • T = The Messiah chose the apostles He wanted to write scriptures for The Holy Bible. The Messiah stated many false prophets would come in the future to lead people astray (Matthew 24:4).

  • F = It's okay to 'save' people without giving them additional guidance.

  • T = Many of the scriptures in The New Testament were written as letters of guidance sent to new believers. The apostles often remained with new believers to teach them. You don't want to abandon new Christians, which might cause them to turn away from Christianity and God (Mark 9:42; Luke 17:1,2; and Matthew 18:5,6).

  • F = Once 'saved', you don't need to do anything but wait to go to Heaven.

  • T = The Messiah commanded us to 'save' disbelievers (Matthew 28:16-20), and to build loving relationships with Him (Matthew 22:38). You must pray to God to receive forgiveness of your sins (Matthew 6:9-13). Practice your faith, because faith without works, is dead (James 2:14-26).

  • F = The 10 commandments are dead, according to an early letter by Paul, Romans 7:6.

  • T = The 10 commandments were incorporated into The Messiah's first and second commandment of love, according to a letter written later by Apostle Paul, Romans 13:8-10 (Matthew 19:16-19; Matthew 5:19,20).

  • F = It's okay to talk in tongues in church (Pentecostal church).

  • T = "However, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue" (1 Corinthians 14:19 (NASB)).

  • F = It's okay to confess sins to a priest ('father') to receive forgiveness (Catholic church).

  • T = The Messiah is the one mediator between God and men (1 Timothy 2:5). The Lord's Prayer includes forgiveness of sins (Matthew 6:9-13). We have one Father in Heaven, and we are not to create mimics of Him (Matthew 23:8-12).

  • F = It's okay to pray to saints and The Messiah's mother (Catholic church).

  • T = The Messiah is the one mediator between God and men (1 Timothy 2:5).

  • T = There is to be no idol or likeness of God or what is in Heaven (Exodus 20:4).

  • F = It's okay to hate people (Koran).

  • T = Hate crucified The Son of God. Hate is equated with murder (1 John 3:15). Love your enemies (Matthew 5:44). Paul initially persecuted Christians, but after he became 'saved', he wrote 1/3 of the New Testament.

  • F = The Messiah isn't The Son of God because He's only a great prophet (Judaism, Islam (Koran/Quran)).

  • T = The Messiah is the only way to get to our Father (John 14:6). The Messiah fulfilled hundreds of prophecies as The Son of God. The Messiah rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven. The crucifixion of The Messiah released The Holy Spirit, who has filled millions of believers with the truth (John 16:12-15).

  • F = The devil and his demons tempt Christians.

  • T = God's angels defeated the devil (Revelation 12:7). God cast the devil out of Heaven (Revelation 12:9). God uses the devil as a tool in His trial and tribulations to teach and direct you (1 Timothy 1:20).

  • F = You have done too many evil things to be saved by God.

  • T = The Messiah forgives all past sins and guilt when you are 'born again' (Romans 4:25). After you are 'born again', however, don't turn your back on Him (Luke 9:62).

  • F = If you are successful all by yourself, you don't need God.

  • T = "For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life" (Galatians 6:8 (NASB)). Treasures are destroyed on earth, but they are eternal in Heaven (Matthew 6:19-21).

  • F = Jesus is the name by which you are 'saved'.

  • T = Yehoshua (Yeshua for short) is the name originally given to The Son of God. "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12 (NASB)). The letter "J" wasn't included in the Bible in the fabricated name Jesus until the late 17th century.

  • T = The Holy Bible is the book of truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12), God is truth, and He never lies (Numbers 23:19; John 14:6). "Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God"" (John 3:3 (NASB)).

  • F = It's okay to divorce.
