What is the way God provided to defeat temptation?

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)).

After more than one year of experimenting with a multitude of techniques to defeat temptation (Exodus 20:3-17), I have finally solved the mystery. At first, I tried simple prayer as a technique, but it failed to defeat temptation. I cannot adequately describe the extent of creativeness I utilized in developing the multitude of possible techniques as time progressed in the search of defeating temptation. The length of time involved in testing the multitude of techniques, all ending in failure, eventually began to test my resolve to the point of extreme despair, as I know sinning repeatedly will result in The Messiah's judgment to prevent me from entering Heaven (Hebrews 10:26-29). However, a solution, which is possibly the only realistic solution in existence, finally became apparent to me. Thank God for His miracles.

What I find strange is that as soon as God's knowledge was made known to me about how to defeat temptation, temptations no longer came to me. Apparently, just the understanding of the knowledge alone, combined with the intent of utilizing it, was all that was needed to thoroughly and finally defeat temptation. The solution was in the Bible all along (no big surprise eh), but I just didn't understand it clearly until I studied God's word much more thoroughly.

Hebrews 12:4 (NIV) states, “In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.”

At first, I wondered if this meant I was suppose to puncture or cut myself to divert my mind from temptation. While I can imagine this would be one alternative that's better than not being accepted into Heaven with God, I couldn't accept the theory that God would have created the need for such an extreme technique (Matthew 5:30). After studying what happened to The Messiah, while He was praying so earnestly about His pending crucifixion, I received the epiphany (Luke 22:44). Thank God for His miracles. The Messiah prayed so earnestly that He sweat blood (hematidrosis). Hematidrosis (also referred to as hematohidrosis, hemidrosis, or blood sweat) is a physiological condition in which the body sweats blood, most commonly caused by extreme duress.

The Holy Bible directs us to 'fixate' our eyes on The Messiah (Hebrews 12:2; Matthew 14:30), and to pray to Him to the point of sweating blood, if need be.

Now, I must emphasize and clearly state that I do fully intend to pray to God to the point of sweating blood, if temptation comes to me, so that it will be defeated and leave me. However, just the understanding of God's word has been completely protecting me for so long that I have become convinced that it's time for me to pass on this understanding of knowledge to you.

Commentary

Sin becomes the master of the person who chooses to habitually sin. Sin becomes the master because it controls the mind, body, and soul. The Messiah said you become the slave to sin (John 8:34; Romans 6:6,7; Romans 6:16; 2 Peter 2:18,19; 1 Corinthians 6:18). If it wasn't your master, you could stop, but you don't stop because it is your master. You cannot serve two masters because you will eventually prefer to serve one master more than the other master (Matthew 6:24). Sin leads to death, but righteousness leads to life (Romans 6:16; James 1:14,15). The Messiah said, ""I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"" (John 14:6 (NIV)).

Refuse to fulfill just one desire to sin intentionally, and you will discover overcoming those desires in the future becomes easier and easier.

Learn the truth, and the truth will set you free from sin (John 8:32).

The Messiah sacrificed Himself on the cross to defeat all sin. Sin cannot enslave you, if The Messiah is your master (Hebrews 9:26; Romans 6:6,7)!!!

The Messiah disarmed and triumphed over the rulers and authorities of darkness, so He has given Christians the power to take every thought captive (Colossians 2:15; 2 Corinthians 10:5).

"If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.  Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?" (Hebrews 10:26-29 (NIV)).
