How do I Strengthen my Fellowship with God?

Our relationship to God is legitimized by our being children of God and God being our Father.

Our fellowship with God is exemplified by our desire to love, share, and commune with Him.

Christians should continually strengthen their fellowships with our Father in Heaven. If you neglect your fellowship, you might also forget to keep His Commandments and then be denied salvation (1 John 3:8-9); conversely, strengthening your fellowship might result in pleasing God and receiving crowns in Heaven (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

Major Ways to Strengthen your Fellowship with God:

First and foremost, you must make sure you're a saved Christian by: believing God is your Creator and Lord/Leader, repenting against your sinning ways, asking forgiveness of your sins, forgiving all the people who have sinned against you, asking to receive The Holy Spirit, and then receiving The Holy Spirit into your heart, soul, and mind. Hallelujah!

The Messiah's First Commandment is for you to love Him with all of your heart, all of your soul, and all of your mind (Matthew 22:37-40). You can prove your love of Him (John 14:15) and your love of your neighbor (1 John 5:2) by keeping our Father's Ten Commandments (Romans 13:8-10).

Pray to God and ask Him to continuously fellowship with you. The more you seek God, the closer He will come to you (James 4:8).

Pray the Lord's Prayer or Daily Prayer:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread/needs (proverbs 30:8). And forgive us our debts/sins (1 John 1:9), as we also have forgiven our debtors/sinners (Matthew 6:15). And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one” (Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)).

Pray before each meal to remember and thank The Messiah for His sacrifice, and to thank God for providing the food for you to eat (1 Corinthians 11:23-29; Matthew 14:19; Acts 27:35; Luke 24:30).

A prayer I have heard is, “Our Christ, we remember you and thank you for sacrificing your body on the cross, and for shedding your blood to forgive our sins. Our Father in Heaven, we thank you for giving us our daily needs.”

Give joy to God by spreading the gospel, which leads evil people onto God's Way for salvation (Matthew 28:16-20). Your kindness and efforts will save these new converts from death and prevent a multitude of sins (James 5:20). Teach only the truth to followers, and never pull scriptures out of context to say what their itching ears want to hear to fulfill their own desires (2 Timothy 4:3).

Additional Elements of Fellowship:

Put God first in all things, even before your family (Matthew 6:33; Matthew 19:29).

This is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)):

rejoice always,

pray continually,

give thanks in all circumstances.

Create joy by giving donations to accountable Christian Evangelists (1 Chronicles 29:14-18; Acts 4:32-35).

Create joy by helping the stricken (Luke 10:30-37).

Strengthen The Indwelling Holy Spirit:

Pray to God and ask Him to fill you with The Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13).

“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:18-20 (NIV)).

Listen to Christian music.

Write new Christian songs or new psalms.

Fellowship with other saved Christians (1 John 1:3).

Imitate Christ's humility (Philippians 2:1-4).

Read a chronological version of The New Testament (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Deuteronomy 17:18-19).

Watch Christian television shows founded in truth, not pastors who tickle your ears (2 Timothy 4:3).

Memorize God's Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17).

Dedicate Yourself to Fellowship with God:

“Fast” to increase God's attention on you and bring Him closer to you (Matthew 6:17-18; Ezra 8:23; Esther 4:16; Psalms 35:13; Joel 2:12; James 4:8).

“Meditate” to analyze your fellowship with God, concentrate on God's will, and discern God's word.

Meditate to please God (James 4:8; Psalm 104:34; Psalm 19:14)

Meditate on God's Law (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2; Psalm 119:48,97)

Meditate on God's Way (1 Timothy 4:13-15; Psalm 119:11-15, 97-99; Philippians 4:8; Psalm 77:10-12; Psalm 143:5; Psalm 145:5; Mark 4:24-25)

Meditate on God's Word for discernment (2 Timothy 2:7; Psalm 49:3; Psalm 77:6; Hebrews 5:14)
